We often mention the future in our articles. We are also debating what the future might look like due to cryptocurrencies. But what would happen if it was a dystopian future?
Let’s take a look at how cryptocurrencies could help us in the dystopian future (or present).
Dystopia doesn’t have to be like a movie
Under the term dystopia, many people imagine a violent, often brutal opression. It can be a zombie apocalypse, a nuclear war or other catastrophe that would kill millions, if not billions people. However, the truth is that dystopia does not necessarily mean almost immediate destruction. It’s a society that is enslaved. It is also the case that many people live in poverty and are indebted. That sounds a bit like something we already know. Millions of people around the world do not have the opportunity to reach basic health care or save up spare money.
Debts, debts, debts
You will not find a government in the world without a debt. More striking is the fact of how they deal with the debt – they print more money, of course. Last year, global debt reached an all-time high and it is quite possible that this will happen this year again. Add to this cocktail a high unemployment rate and you have already a dystopian presence. The irony is that while governments are allowed to deal with debt by printing new money out of thin air, people are not allowed to do so.
Cryptocurrencies and blockchain can change everything
If you’re wondering if it’s time to worry, then probably yes. There is no privacy. The information you write about yourself on the Internet is probably going to stick forever somewhere.
But there is a solution that can help with this situation. Yes, we are talking about blockchain and cryptocurrencies. Thanks to their decentralized nature, they can give you back everything you lose in today’s system – the right to own your data and your privacy as well as property. The sooner you realize that you can’t rely on the state and start taking responsibility for your well being into your own hands, the better.
