Open-source allows us to see things differently, how can we take advantage of this?

Open-source applications are all around us. Many people use the Linux operating system, the Mozilla web browser, or even have an Android phone. These are applications, or even operating systems, that help users who are technically savvy to further improve and develop source code, the documentation of which is freely available. Let’s take a look at what open-source can bring us in the future.

Open-source and the pandemic

Although the pandemic has brought us many good and bad things, one of those good things has been the increased interest of programmers and technologists in open-source projects. This is because this kind of application is very close to the decentralisation that our world may one day reach. People are starting to see that decentralization can bring us a lot of good, and so they are also turning more to decentralized cryptocurrencies and other applications that they find more secure. Though governments have tried to track those infected with Covid-19 using apps, these apps showed huge security flaws that led to data leaks.

However, decentralization and open-source are also approaching one very widespread thing – the Internet. The Internet, without which most of the world would have been lost in the past year, is not decentralized. This is another likely future evolution of the Internet, or a complete change of it. Admittedly, it will take a long time for individuals to master the capabilities and skills of a decentralized world. But once they do, we will be able to look forward to a safer and friendlier future and Web 3.0, as the decentralized internet is called.

Whether the future of the internet lies in blockchain, decentralised Web 3.0 or the quantum internet, it is important to note that cryptocurrencies are also gaining more favour and may outline the possible shape of future money. If you haven’t yet had the opportunity to experience cryptocurrencies and their freedom, we can offer you our PlatonCoin (PLTC), which combines the best of both the decentralized and centralized worlds.
