Bitcoin begun to reclaim round-numbered price tags yesterday, leading to a surge above $47,000. It kept climbing and even tapped $48,000 briefly before it was rejected and driven back down by around $1,000. Some altcoins are in green and some in red today. The crypto market cap has increased by roughly $60 billion in a day and has risen above $2.2 trillion.

To the movies with crypto: AMC CEO Adam Aron has taken to Twitter to announce that the largest US cinema chain is going to start accepting Ethereum, Litecoin and Bitcoin Cash on top of Bitcoin.
Coinbase will offer crypto futures and derivatives: Coinbase, one of the world’s biggest and most regulated crypto exchanges that went public earlier this year, will soon offer futures and derivatives trading as it looks to bump up its overall product offering. “Today, Coinbase filed an application with the NFA to register as an FCM → Futures Commission Merchant. This is the next step to broaden our offerings and offer futures and derivatives trading on our platforms,” the exchange stated in a tweet.
Binance CEO on institutions: Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao recently told The South China Morning Post that financial institutions are coming “big time.” The largest crypto exchange is seeing an increasing number of institutional investors, according to Zhao.
NFT insider trading scandal: As the trading volume in non-fungible tokens begins to slow down from recent record heights, leading NFT marketplace OpenSea has been rocked by an insider trading scandal involving a senior team member. An employee had purchased items he knew were soon to be on the marketplace’s front page before it appeared publicly.
Serena Williams and NFT: Serena Williams’ husband, Alexis Ohanian, wore a pin featuring a CryptoPunks NFT that he bought for his wife. Bitcoin adoption in El Salvador: El Salvador’s digital bitcoin wallet Chivo has already hit half a million users, according to reports from local media. The country introduced the wallet on Sept 7. Users receive $30 in bitcoin when they download the wallet for the first time as an incentive.
Crypto adoption in Africa: According to a review by Chainalysis, the 1200% increase in incoming cryptocurrency volume over the year is almost 50% higher than the global growth average. The rest of the world united registered an also mind blowing 880% increase in the same period.
