The government in Colombia has decided to fund an app, a board game and a book to educate children and young people about cryptocurrency trading and exchanges. This is a proposal in the field of innovative project by Henry Jean Velásquez, who designed the game. The B Coin game
The game is called “B Coin: Learn how to invest in the stock market” and is for three players. The player enters the world of investing and competes with his opponents. The idea is to always buy and sell at the right time to make money. The buying options are wide, you can buy stocks, commodities, cryptocurrencies or you can trade on the forex. Each asset has a specific trend that is easy to interpret. The game thus simulates the trading experience essentially as in the real world.
Velásquez was motivated by a 2014 government decree that financial and economic education in Colombia should be a topic that schools in the country should discuss to prepare children and young people to better understand the economy and the dynamics of the financial system. Also, research by his company Gameday revealed that only 1% of Colombian schools teach economic literacy.

The government’s call
The game was submitted as part of the government’s CREA Digital Call 2021, jointly launched by the Colombian Ministries of Culture and Science, Technology and Innovation. The winner will receive 119 million pesos (roughly $31,000) and is also expected to present an improved version of its proposed innovation in November. Henry Jean Velásquez will thus have to improve and transform his game so that it can be downloaded on Windows and Android, and from December the game will be distributed in app stores. According to Velásquez, it will be transformed into the form of a graphic novel. The board game and book will be available in March 2022.
